The OZ Armour Top Bait Plus 35g with Four Apis Beetle Traps combines a 35g tube of Top Bait Plus gel with four reusable Apis small hive beetle traps. The kit provides a ready-to-use setup for managing adult small hive beetles as part of a broader hive pest-management routine.

Top Bait Plus is placed inside the designated centre slot of the Apis trap, where it attracts beetles into the trap while the narrow entry slots are designed to allow beetles through and keep honey bees out.

A Complete APIS Trap and Bait Kit

This kit includes one 35g tube of Top Bait Plus gel and four Apis beetle traps, giving beekeepers the equipment needed to set up multiple trapping points.

The recommended setup is two traps per hive, positioned in opposing corners of the top honey box. This means the four supplied traps can be used across two hives at the recommended placement rate.

Designed to Target Adult Beetles

Top Bait Plus is designed to attract adult small hive beetles into the Apis traps. Once beetles enter, they encounter the bait inside the enclosed trapping area.

The narrow trap openings are designed to allow small hive beetles to enter while excluding honey bees, keeping the bait within the trap rather than loose inside the hive.

Simple Application and Regular Maintenance

To use the kit, open an Apis trap and place approximately 1g of Top Bait Plus gel in the centre slot. The bait should remain inside an approved beetle trap and should never be applied directly into the hive.

The traps should be checked regularly because bees may use propolis to block the entry slots. The product instructions recommend cleaning the slots during inspections and refilling the bait monthly during spring and summer and approximately every three months during autumn and winter.
